Napa Earthquake in the News

We awoke to news of the 6.0 earthquake affecting the American Canyon in the Napa, Solano and Sonoma regions of California. Our hearts and prayers go out to those who have experienced loss, damage, injury.

As California's official disaster food responder, we know only too well that the poor are often the most impacted. They tend to live in dwellings that are older, with no earthquake protections. Due to power outages, many of them may also lose all the food in their freezers and refrigerators.

Currently, first responders—Governor's Office of Emergency Services, California Department of Social Services and other local, state and federal agencies—are continuing to assess the short-and long-term impacts to these regions. In the meantime, we at Foodlink will be contacting our partner food banks in the affected areas to offer assistance.
